Chaya Kitchen - Raw Chocolate Spread

As some of you may know, last month, I decided to book myself a trip away to Ibiza for a week of yoga, sunshine and good food with Chaya Yoga Retreats. It was there that I met founder Lucy Hill, holistic life coach and yoga and one half of Chaya Kitchen who along with her partner in crime Laura, presented us with meal upon meal of gourmet plant-based menus, using local natural and alkaline-forming ingredients. The girls really know how to make feel good food and believe in abundance and the power of good food, which was exactly the mind set that worked so perfectly in keeping the retreat guests happy. I wanted to share a little bit of the goodness that we were lucky enough to enjoy by introducing Lucy and sharing one of my favourite recipes from the week...

We at Chaya LOVE cacao. Each of our retreats features a lot of cacao in various guises; from refined sugar and dairy free raw chocolate (my personal favourite) through to using it to add an earthy depth to savoury dishes. It’s a total Chaya store cupboard staple. It’s incredibly good for you, being one of the most nutritionally dense foods available to man – therefore we mostly prepare it raw, (i.e. below 42 degrees) to protect it’s natural superfood status. This particular recipe is SO simple and SO delicious. You can keep it thick and spread it on toast or crackers, or make it in to a pouring cream for desserts. Or just eat it out of the jar of course. It keeps refrigerated for around 5 days (although I’d be surprised if it lasts that long).


  • 1 cup tahini

  • 1/3 cup raw cacao powder

  • 2 tbs honey

  • a tbsp or two of nut or seed mylk

  • a pinch of salt

what to do

Simply mix all the ingredients together with a spoon, adding the mylk slowly until you reach

the desired consistency.
