Peach, Raspberry and Hemp Smoothie


Quite a few people have been asking for a summer breakfast or banana free smoothie recently, so I thought I would combine both requests into one sweet, creamy smoothie! Plant-based protein powders are a little harder to disguise than whey protein – they often leave a powdery texture and combining them with banana is a great way to avoid that. The problem is, lots of people don’t like banana. For me, banana doesn’t always agree with my stomach so I try to avoid it most days. One of the hardest things was finding a smoothie that I could enjoy pre or post workout to get a good protein boost.

This smoothie is a real winner on that front – it is perfect for the summer as it’s really fresh, perfectly sweet and relatively inexpensive to make. I like to buy frozen berries – it means I always have them to hand and they work really well to cool a smoothie (which I find really important when adding protein – but that is completely down to personal preference!). This smoothie will give you about 8g of protein so it’s a great breakfast before you workout or a great way to refuel after! We need carbohydrates and protein when we are working out to provide us with the energy and recuperation our muscles need to get stronger.


what you’ll need

(makes 1 large smoothie)

  • 60g of raspberries

  • 2 small (or 1 large) peaches

  • 20g of oats

  • 200 ml of almond or oat milk

  • 3 teaspoons of hemp seeds

  • 2 heaped teaspoons hemp powder

what to do

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. If it is a little thick, add water a little at a time to thin it out. If you are making this in advance, shake well before drinking.
