Vanilla Protein Smoothie
So last week flew by without a chance to get creative so I am sorry that I didn't get a post to you on Wednesday. This one is super simple though and I hope some of you can try it for breakfast tomorrow - I know I'll be having it. When I first changed my diet, I used to drink a protein smoothie after working out in the mornings. It was a great way to rebalance my blood sugar levels, take in protein to help with muscle recovery an fill me up after building up an appetite! The trouble is that this always tended to include banana, which I now can't really eat. Recently I have been experimenting with a banana-free version to act as my go to smoothie and I wanted to share it with you.
This one is made up of almond milk, spinach, hemp protein, vanilla, and oats. This combination gives you a great balance of protein, carbohydrates and fat to support your post-workout recovery. It also makes a great breakfast when you're in a hurry or fancy something a little lighter as it only requires a couple of ingredients that I tend to have in the fridge anyway. You can always add a little banana, avocado or nut butter if you want to make it a little creamier too.
2 tablespoons of hemp protein powder (20g)
2 tablespoons of oats (20g)
200ml of almond milk
2 large handfuls of spinach
1/2 a teaspoon of vanilla powder
