Yoga and Fitness in Mykonos
At the beginning of the month, I teamed up with awesome trainer Danny Osbourne to host a yoga and fitness retreat with Helios Retreats. Together we put together a programme to put our guests through a week long total mind and body experience, with an aim to help them leave feeling refreshed, balanced and healthy. The retreat was hosted by Helios at a beautiful villa, with all the guests under one roof. While this gave us the opportunity to all get to know each other well, we also had our own spacious and relaxing bedrooms where we could take time to ourselves and there was plenty of space in and around the house for a little quiet time too!
I was really keen to make sure the guests felt extra special when they arrived so we made up some awesome goodie bags with brands like Lululemon, Well + Happy and many many more! Helios even organised monogrammed personalised yoga mats for the guests for an extra special touch.
Danny's training included bodyweight training, HIIT (think hill sprints galore) and of course, his signature boxing. I am a huge fan of Danny's style and have trained with him a lot at home so it was a total pleasure to work with him at Helios. Together we gave the guests a balance between intensive training, yoga for movement and stretching, and a little introduction to some mindfulness and meditation. In between our sessions, guests had the opportunity to visit beaches, go for walks (or runs for the seriously keen), enjoy outdoor and water activities, and of course relax by the pool with a good book or a game of Bananagrams!
The food was designed by Dr. Filip Koidis from W1Nutritionist clinic and prepared by the villa's own Michelin starred chef. With portions designed for men and women, each plate was meticulously planned to give the guests what they needed to leave feeling light and nourished. I must admit that for the first day or two it took a while to get used to the portion control but by day three I was feeling great!
If I was to pick out one highlight for me, it would have to be our beautiful sunset yoga class, where both myself as the teacher and each of my students really felt the energy shift and we were connected through an emotive thread that wove us all together. The class finished as the sun went down just in time for a long savasana, then we hugged, smiled and made our way to the table for another delicious dinner.
I am no longer working with Helios in September but Danny will be there with another teacher so check out their site for dates and details.
